-- Police in Chau Thanh District, Tien Giang Province, southern Vietnam said on Saturday that they had launched legal proceedings against and detained three youngsters as two of them rode a motorbike at high speed and did a wheelie while the remainder recorded their friends’ act and uploaded the video to social media.

-- People living near the foot of the Kinh Thanh Da Bridge in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City were in misery as high tides submerged their neighborhood, while an eroded embankment section in the area has yet to be repaired for over four months.

-- Dozens of pig carcasses have been discarded into a canal in Nghe An Province, north-central Vietnam, emitting a foul odor, despite the ongoing African swine fever epidemic there.

-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Saturday morning attended the inauguration ceremony of a new establishment of the National Innovation Center at the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park in Hanoi and the opening of the Vietnam International Innovation Expo 2023, which will last until Wednesday next week.

-- Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday resumed work on the Tang Long Bridge project, which had been put on hold for four years due to slow site clearance, in Thu Duc City. The project, carrying a price tag of VND688 billion (US$28 million), is expected to be opened to traffic on April 30, 2025.

Lifestyle

-- An international cat breed competition began in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday with the participation of 60 domestic cats and 12 felines from other countries.

-- More than 100 young people donning ao dai (Vietnam's traditional costume) in ancient styles gathered in a pedestrian area surrounding the iconic Ho Guom (Sword Lake) in Hanoi on Saturday in response to the Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2023 during this weekend, exciting many foreigners.

Sports

-- The Vietnamese delegation wrapped up their campaign at the Asian Para Games 2023, taking place between Sunday last week and Saturday this week, with one gold, 10 silver, and nine bronze medals, ranking 22nd in the medal tally, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

World News

-- Thirty-two people were killed and 63 injured on Saturday in a multiple-vehicle collision about 132 kilometers (82 miles) north of Egypt's capital Cairo, Reuters reported, citing the health ministry.
