Employees of An Hoa Cultural Park in Kien Giang Province, southern Vietnam on Thursday morning caught one more crocodile which is among the eight ones escaping from the park last month.

Some local inhabitants previously spotted the creature in a big lake in the provincial capital city of Rach Gia on Wednesday afternoon, according to Le Quang Nghia, director of the park.

After that, the park employees set up a fishing net near the lake to catch the croc.

Around 6:00 am on Thursday, they checked the net and discovered a one-meter-long croc, weighing some 10 kilograms, was trapped in it.

As the croc was dead, the park will destroy it as per prevailing regulations.

The park was taking care of 44 crocodiles in a manmade reservoir to serve visitors, but a number of them escaped due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the aging cages, and a lack of funding to renovate them.

On October 13 this year, the provincial forest protection department teamed up with local authorities to drain the reservoir in the park and confirmed that eight of the crocs had escaped.

Until now, six of them have been found.

Authorities are searching for the remaining two.
