Ho Chi Minh City’s water supplier Saigon Water Corporation (Sawaco) has announced that water supply will be interrupted in District 7, Nha Be District, Can Gio District, parts of District 8, and parts of Thu Duc City this weekend due to maintenance.

The maintenance of the Thu Duc B.O.O. Water Plant electrical cabinet system will take place between 11:00 pm on Saturday and 2:00 am on Sunday, the company said.

Sawaco originally planned the water outage for the night of November 11 and the morning of November 12. 

However, due to a fire incident at a factory on Be Van Cam Street in Tan Kieng Ward, District 7, an area reliant on water supply from the Thu Duc B.O.O Water Plant, the scheduled shutdown was deferred. 

To avoid hindering firefighting efforts in the affected area, the B.O.O. Thu Duc Water Plant postponed maintenance work on its electrical cabinets to this weekend.

This will result in a water outage across the entirety of District 7, excluding Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone, Nha Be District, and Can Gio District. 

Water will be shut off in Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9 in District 8, and in Binh Chanh District’s Binh Hung Commune.

Furthermore, water supply will be halted during the mentioned time frame in An Phu, Binh An, Binh Khanh, An Khanh, Thu Thiem, An Loi Dong, Phuoc Binh, Phuoc Long A, Phuoc Long B, and Tang Nhon Phu B Wards, and the Saigon High-Tech Park of Thu Duc City. 

In Phong Phu Commune, Binh Chanh District, the supply will be affected as well.

Sawaco has cautioned that following the expected three-hour disruption, the recovery of water on the supply network in locations more distant from the source may be slower than initially anticipated.

The firm said it has instructed its affiliated units to adjust the water supply network to minimize any inconvenience in the affected areas.

Simultaneously, it will increase water supply activities through tank trucks to key locations.
