-- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his spouse hosted a banquet for diplomatic corps in Hanoi on Wednesday night on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday.

-- Frost is blanketing the northern mountainous region, while the hot weather is forecast to hit southern Vietnam on Thursday, according to the national weather center.

-- Police in Ho Chi Minh City said on Wednesday that they had apprehended a 39-year-old Chinese man who is internationally wanted by Chinese police for organizing illegal entries and exits.

-- Phu Quoc City under the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang witnessed as many as 159 land disputes and forest land encroachment cases last year, a police officer said on Wednesday.

-- German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier expected to see more Vietnamese nationals travel to Germany for work to help ease the labor shortage facing the European country in the coming time, he told a meeting with Prime Minister Chinh on Wednesday.

-- Vietnamese animation studio Sconnect on Wednesday announced the establishment of Sconnect Academy of Media Arts, the first animation and game training school in Vietnam.

Education 

-- German President Steinmeier paid a visit to the Vietnamese - German University in southern Binh Duong Province on Wednesday afternoon, as part of his trip to Vietnam. He left Vietnam for his country later the same day.

Sports

-- Vietnam lost 2-3 to Iraq in their last group-stage game at the 2023 AFC Asian Cup at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Qatar on Wednesday evening (Vietnam time). The Vietnamese had crashed out of the tournament before the game, following two defeats against Japan and Indonesia.
