Some 200 drug addicts at a detoxification facility in Soc Trang Province, southern Vietnam subdued security officers to run away from the center on Saturday.

Nguyen Thanh Binh, director of the detoxification center, said on Sunday that 191 drug addicts resorted to conflicts to escape from the facility.

“The province’s police officers are searching for the escaped addicts,” Binh said.

As of 9:00 am on the same day, 50 of these addicts had been taken back to the center.

Conflicts and fights between drug addicts broke out at some rooms in the detoxification facility at 11:00 am on Saturday.

Police officers summoned the related individuals for questioning, but they failed to cooperate.

At 5:00 pm on the day, dozens approached the gate of the center and overpowered security officers to flee from the facility.

The center is detoxifying over 460 drug addicts, said Binh.
