A deadly collision between a sleeper bus and a container truck happened in the northern Vietnamese province of Tuyen Quang early on Tuesday morning, killing five passengers on the spot while injuring ten others, traffic police reported.
The fatal accident occurred at around 1:40 am on National Highway 2 in the province’s Yen Son District, when the sleeper bus was traveling into Tuyen Quang from neighboring Ha Giang Province and the truck was driving in the opposite direction, according to the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security.

The trucker, L.V.T., 39, lost control over the vehicle when entering a curved section of the highway, causing it to encroach on the left lane of the road and slam into the sleeper bus, the department said.
The strong hit damaged the bus severely and police officers had to use tools to break open the doors and the trunk of the vehicle to bring the trapped passengers out.
Five people were found dead on the spot while 10 others were injured, said chairman of the Tuyen Quang administration Nguyen Van Son.

Rapid tests showed that both drivers did not have any alcohol content in their breath.
A team of police officers from the department arrived at the scene to join local forces to handle the crash.
