-- Addressing the Vietnamese community in Australia on Thursday, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh mentioned proposing to some Australian leaders the recognition of the Vietnamese community as an ethnic minority in the country during their recent discussions. Chinh is on an official visit to Australia, lasting from Thursday to Sunday.

-- Vietnam's Thua Thien-Hue Province has bestowed honorary citizenship on Andrea Teufel, a German, and Kazuyo Watanabe, a Japanese, on the occasion of International Women's Day. 

-- Vietnamese forces participating in the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) in the Abyei region of Africa organized a gathering on Thursday to bring together female soldiers from Vietnam, representatives of women from various agencies and units working at the mission, as well as local women representatives, in commemoration of International Women's Day (March 8).

-- Viet Duc University Hospital in Hanoi on Thursday announced it had admitted a 13-year-old boy from Hai Duong Province, northern Vietnam who suffered multiple injuries following the explosion of his laptop. He is now in intensive care.

-- About 60,000 tonnes of household waste is discharged into the environment in Vietnam a day, according to statistics released at a seminar in Hanoi on Thursday.

-- The 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival kicked off at Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in District 1 on Thursday. The fest will run for 10 days with 15 activities and contests.

-- V-League 1 side Hanoi FC on Thursday announced their one-year contract with Tim Hall, a Luxembourg international. Born in 1997, Hall is 1.90 meters tall. He will play as a centre-back at Hanoi FC.

-- "Six people from Sri Lanka, including a mother and four young children, were knifed to death in the Canadian capital Ottawa late on Wednesday, police said on Thursday, rocking a country where mass murders are rare," Reuters reported.

-- "Ocean temperatures hit a record high in February, with the average global sea surface temperature at 21.06 degrees Celsius (69.91 degrees Fahrenheit), the EU's Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) said on Thursday," according to Reuters.
