A paraglider died on Saturday while he was competing in the ‘Discovering the Great Forest - Sa Thay 2024’ Kon Tum Paragliding Tournament, which commenced in Sa Thay District under Kon Tum Province, located in the Central Highlands region, on Friday.

The tournament runs until Sunday, as part of the ongoing Kon Tum Tourism Culture Week 2024.

The pilot was trying to land in an empty field to finish his ride when his parachute tangled, leading to his fall.

After the paragliding accident, the resident of Hanoi was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. However, he succumbed to serious injuries.

The victim was hospitalized while he was sinking into a coma and suffering injuries to his brain and chest, according to the Kon Tum Hospital.

He was pronounced dead three hours after treatment efforts.

Videos filmed by audiences show that the paragliding tragedy happened in just a few seconds.

The paragliding tourney, co-held by the Sa Thay District People’s Committee and the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, marked the third edition of the tournament on Sa Thay mountain.

As many as 130 domestic and international paragliding pilots are competing in this year’s tourney.
