Two steam locomotives manufactured in the 1960s have been restored and are expected to provide tourists with a new experience between Da Nang City and Thua Thien-Hue Province in central Vietnam, starting from the end of this year or early next year, after they are connected with carriages.
Indochina Rail Tourist Service JSC said it had reached an agreement with hospitality company Wafaifo Optimisers to manage Revolution Express steam locomotives.
They are the last remaining working steam engines in Vietnam. They were built in Vietnam based on a French design.
The locomotives will pull two carriages that can each accommodate 57 passengers, a kitchen carriage, and a luggage carriage.

Revolution Express will go on a return trip between Da Nang City and Thua Thien-Hue Province every day, facilitating tourists admiring magnificent landscapes along the way.
Michael Gebbie, a representative of Indochina Rail Tourist Service JSC, said a highlight of the service will be themed meals at restaurants at three stations on the route — Kim Lien in Da Nang and Lang Co and Hue Stations in Thua Thien-Hue.
“We are proud to bring these old dames of rail back to life and to showcase important periods in Vietnamese history from imperial through colonial rule and finally the struggle to independence,” said Gebbie.
