The administration in Da Lat is considering a pilot plan to turn a route along Xuan Huong Lake into the tourist city’s second night pedestrian street, where specialties are to be offered at a night market to visitors.

In the plan recently submitted by the municipal authorities to the local Party Committee for approval, the night pedestrian street will run along Xuan Huong Lake in the heart of the city, from the intersection of Tran Quoc Toan and Dinh Tien Hoang Streets to the Flower Garden, with a length of about 1.6km.

According to the plan, the Tran Quoc Toan promenade has one side bordering Doi Cu golf course and the other side facing Xuan Huong Lake.

The pilot plan will be implemented from June 2 to the end of December, occurring every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

On this walking street, local authorities will organize cultural, artistic, and sports activities, including music shows, exchange sessions between street music and dance groups, roller skating, and martial arts performances, among others.

Visitors overcrowd the current Da Lat night market, which is part of the night pedestrian route located in the Hoa Binh area in the heart of Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province, Vietnam’s Central Highlands region. Photo: M.V. / Tuoi Tre

In addition, the street will have a night market to introduce Da Lat specialties to visitors.

The Da Lat administration expects that this promenade will combine with the Flower Garden, Xuan Huong Lake, Lam Vien Square, and Da Lat night market to form a complete night entertainment space, satisfying the needs of tourists and helping boost the city’s development of trade, services, and tourism.

Upon operation, the new night street will be the second of its kind in Da Lat, which is the capital of Lam Dong Province in Vietnam's Central Highlands, besides the current one that is located in the Hoa Binh area in Ward 1 in the city center.

The existing walking route and the Da Lat night market situated within it have long become attractive night destinations for visitors to the city.
