Police in Lam Dong Province, located in Vietnam’s Central Highlands, on Monday announced the dismantling of a drug network operating in Da Lat City, leading to the apprehension of four related individuals.
Investigations revealed that Lo Thi Tinh, 45, from Me Linh Commune in Lam Dong’s Lam Ha District, was involved in suspicious activities connected to an illicit narcotics network operating across multiple provinces and cities.
Tinh posed as an employer hiring male workers for plant care and flower sales to facilitate drug transactions.
On May 22, Truong Thi Hieu, 45, from Ward 5, District 4, Ho Chi Minh City, was caught transporting drugs to Lam Dong for Tinh.
At 7:45 am on May 23, at a hotel in Da Lat, police caught Tinh in possession of one brick of heroin and one package of ketamine disguised in a cake box, along with nearly VND500 million (US$19,648) in cash and related evidence.
Further searches at Tinh’s Da Lat residence led to the arrest of Vu Dinh Phuong, 32, from Phu Cu District in northern Hung Yen Province, and the seizure of seven packages of synthetic drugs, seven packages of heroin, and 26 pills of ecstasy hidden for sale.
Expanding their investigation, another police team apprehended Vu Tien Dai, 34, from My Duc District, Hanoi, red-handed engaging in illegal drug trading at Slope No. 7 in Trai Mat area, Ward 11, Da Lat, around 1:00 pm on the same day, confiscating 30 packs of heroin.
Dai served as Tinh’s intermediary for drug procurement and distribution.
The Lam Dong drug crime investigation department has temporarily detained Tinh, Hieu, Phuong, and Dai, as they continue their investigation into the case.
