Northern Vietnam could be drenched with downpours accompanied by scattered thunderstorms during the last two days of this month, with heavy rainfall expected to batter mountainous areas mainly in the evening, said the national weather agency.
The northern region will likely experience showers and thunderstorms in the daytime, according to the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting.
From Thursday night through Friday, moderate to extremely heavy rain and strong winds may lash the region.
For the central region, between Wednesday and Thursday, people may endure the scorching heat during the daytime and see scattered showers at night.
The hot weather in central Vietnam is forecast to be more extreme from June 2 to 4.
The national weather agency added that showers and powerful winds could hit north-central provinces from Thursday night through Saturday and from Tuesday to Friday next week.
Regarding the Central Highlands and southern regions, the impact of the southwest monsoon could bring scattered rain and thunderstorms to these areas from now until June 7, with heavy downpours mostly taking place at night.
The weather agency warned of the potential for whirlwinds, lightning, wind gusts, and hailstorms during rain. It also highlighted the risk of flash floods, landslides, and flooding in riverside, mountainous, and low-lying areas.
