Earthquakes have struck several provinces in Vietnam, including Yen Bai in the north, Quang Ngai and Phu Yen in the central region, and Kon Tum in the Central Highlands, over the past few days, according to the Institute of Geophysics.

A magnitude-3.5 earthquake hit Luc Yen District in Yen Bai at a depth of 10km at 3:09 pm on Wednesday.

The epicenter of the quake was in Muong Lai Commune.

Residents in Yen Bai and the neighboring Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang Provinces reported feeling the tremor.

Vy, a resident of Luc Yen District, Yen Bai, said she heard an explosion and her house and furniture shook for two to three seconds.

“I was on the fifth floor when the earthquake hit, so I felt the shake clearly. Furniture shook slightly for a few seconds,” said Hung, another resident of Luc Yen.

Later that day, another magnitude-2.7 earthquake struck Phu Hoa District and a magnitude-3.5 quake hit Tuy Hoa City, both in Phu Yen Province, at 4:38 pm and 8:00 pm, respectively.

The tremors were approximately 10 kilometers deep, according to the Vietnam Government Portal.

Also on Wednesday, a magnitude-2.9 earthquake struck Kon Tum Province at 5:29 am.

At 10:42 am on Thursday, a magnitude-2.8 earthquake occurred at a depth of around 8.1km in Son Tay District, Quang Ngai Province.

That same day, a magnitude-3.2 tremor hit Kon Tum as well, according to Kinh Te & Do Thi (Economics & Urban Affairs) newspaper.

The quakes posed no risks of disaster, according to the Institute of Geophysics.

The institute said it was still keeping a close watch on the phenomenon.

Earlier, a magnitude-4 earthquake jolted Ham Yen District, Tuyen Quang, a neighbor of Yen Bai Province, at a depth of 10km at 4:13 pm on April 27.
