Authorities in a ward in Quang Ninh Province, northern Vietnam have fined a restaurant VND6.5 million (US$255.4) for kicking tourists out of the facility as they were shooting videos of their complaint about the high prices of dishes at the diner.
The fine was imposed on Minh Phi 1 Restaurant in Ha Khau Ward, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province.
According to local authorities, the restaurant failed to clearly display prices, causing misunderstanding among customers, and offended others.
The ward also required the restaurant to phone to apologize to the tourists, who were from Thai Binh Province, also in northern Vietnam.
According to the Ha Long City administration, the city detached a working team to the restaurant after the tourists denounced it for its owner’s and employees’ unethical behavior and failure to clearly list prices.
The team found that a group of 10 tourists entered the restaurant for lunch on Monday.

After paying over VND2.3 million ($90.4) for their meal, the tourists had a look at the bill and supposed the restaurant had fleeced them, so they asked the restaurant to check it again.
One of the tourists recorded videos of their complaint, but a man at the restaurant displayed inappropriate behavior and forced them to stop filming.
As the tourists refused to follow suit, some people pushed them out of the restaurant.
The tourists later reported the case to the police and administration in Ha Khau Ward.
The Ha Long City administration affirmed that it would improve the city’s tourism environment and strictly handle establishments deliberately violating regulations on price listing and goods quality.
The city is resolved to build a civilized, friendly, safe, and hospitable tourism environment.
