Police have recently provided food and shelter for a male South Korean tourist who got lost while on a motorbike tour in Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province, central Vietnam.

Kyucheol, a 48-year-old South Korean tourist, was reunited with his mother and younger sister, Lim Ji Hee, on Wednesday morning after getting lost since Monday afternoon, thanks to assistance from police in Tra Tan Commune, Bac Tra My District, Quang Nam Province.

Upon the reunion, the man’s relatives expressed sincere appreciation to local police for their help.

Lim told police officers that this was the first time her mother and brother had visited Vietnam.

According to Tra Tan police, Kyucheol was first spotted in the commune at around 6:30 am Wednesday morning.

Police approached him and discovered that he had been traveling with his relatives in Vietnam but had become separated during a motorbike tour of Hoi An on Monday afternoon.

Somehow, he had managed to stray approximately 80km from Hoi An to Tra Tan in Bac Tra My District.

Police were unable to help Kyucheol contact his family as he had forgotten the name and address of his hotel in Hoi An.

He was not carrying any identification documents and did not speak Vietnamese.

Officers took the man to their station, where he was offered food, drinks, and a place to rest while authorities were seeking for his relatives.

About an hour later, Tra Tan police located Kyucheol's hotel, and approximately three hours after that, Kyucheol was reunited with his mother and sister at the police station in Tra Tan.

According to the foreign man's relatives, the family had visited Da Nang on June 22nd and two days later took a tour of neighboring Hoi An City, where they stayed at a hotel on Hung Vuong Street.

At around 4:00 pm on Monday, Kyucheol rented a motorbike from the hotel to explore Hoi An.

However, while driving, he lost his way and ended up straying into Tra Tan Commune.
