A repairer in Hanoi surprised the owner of a Bentley Mulsanne luxury car after successfully fixing its broken wing mirror and charging only VND3 million (US$117).
The repairman is the owner of a small auto accessory shop in the capital city.
Trung, a resident of Hanoi and the car owner, said his vehicle’s wing mirror was broken after being hit by a cyclist.
His Bentley Mulsanne is a 2015-16 Speed model. Such a car is priced at about VND10 billion ($389,878) in the second-hand car market.
Replacing a wing mirror could cost the car owner tens of millions of Vietnamese dong. (VND10 million = $390).

Trung decided to have his car's wing mirror repaired instead of replaced.
He chose a small auto accessory shop owned by Dung, who has over 20 years of experience in repairing cars, instead of entering a large auto repair center.
Dung used a motor from a BMW car's wing mirror and adjusted electric lines to make them match the Bentley. The equipment cost around VND1 million ($39).
The job was done fast, while it was time-consuming to disassemble and re-install the wing mirror.

With high-value autos like Bentley Mulsanne, a minor mistake may cause the repairman to compensate a lot.
Dung charged VND2 million ($78) for the disassembling and re-installation of the wing mirror and its motor.

Trung mentioned that he was satisfied with the quality of the new motor, and the wing mirror was functioning normally.
He also noted that the repair cost was extremely low compared to the value of the car.
It is quite common for crashes to break wing mirrors, Dung said.
