A tropical depression or a storm could form in the East Vietnam Sea in the next few days, bringing heavy downpours to the southern part of the country, the southern weather agency said.
A trough of low pressure whose axis runs through northern Vietnam and the middle of the East Vietnam Sea is moving toward the central region and picks up strength, resulting in the possible formation of a tropical depression or a storm in the maritime area.
Such weather systems could also make the southwest monsoon stronger.
As a result, the southern region will likely experience upcoming cloudy and rainy days, during which rain accompanied by thunderstorms may intensify.
The weather agency also warned of powerful winds, lightning, and inundation in low-lying and urban areas.
