Both domestic and international tourists visiting Ho Chi Minh City can sign up for the Ho Chi Minh City Free Walking Tour, offered by BenThanh Tourist travel company, from Monday.
A representative of BenThanh Tourist said the tour is meant to introduce special cultural and historical values as well as typical architectural works in the southern hub to Vietnamese and foreign travelers who want to explore the city.
The Free Walking Tour is scheduled to begin at 9:30 am and end at 1:00 pm every day.
Tourist guides wait for tourists at a departure site at 3-5 Nguyen Hue Street in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City and take them to well-known destinations in the city, such as Nguyen Hue Walking Street, the edifice of the municipal People's Council and People's Committee, the Municipal Theater, the Saigon Central Post Office, and the Reunification Palace.
The tour ends with a lunch featuring local specialties at Ben Thanh Market.
The tour will satisfy tourists interested in the city’s history, food enthusiasts, and those eager to explore the local culture, streets, and architecture.
"We hope that through the tour to famed destinations in the city, tourists will gain good impressions and widen their knowledge about Ho Chi Minh City, one of the most attractive cities in Southeast Asia," BenThanh Tourist said.
Tourists should put their names down for the tour before 4:00 pm on the day before the departure day.
In 2017, Vietravel, another local travel company, launched the Free Walking Tours program.
It resumed the program last year after a period of suspension.
A Vietravel representative said the company still offers the tour to both domestic and international visitors.
They can register for the tour via the company’s hotline and representative offices.
