-- Leaders of Laos, China, Cambodia, Cuba, Russia, India, North Korea, and Mongolia have sent congratulations to Vietnam's Party and state leaders on the 79th National Day of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - 2024), reported the Vietnam News Agency.

-- People thronged downtown Ho Chi Minh City to enjoy a colorful pyrotechnic show on Monday night, celebrating the 79th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2).

-- Many roads leading to Hanoi were crammed with people and vehicles returning to the capital city from their hometowns on Monday afternoon, a day earlier than the conclusion of the National Day holiday, which lasts through Tuesday.

-- Tractor-trailers will be banned from entering Nguyen Van Bua and Phan Van Hon Streets in Hoc Mon District, Ho Chi Minh City between 6:00 am and 8:00 am, from 11:00 am and 1:00 pm, and between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm every day, starting from September 5 to ease traffic congestion and minimize traffic accidents.

-- Several mooncake stands and retail stores are offering various promotional programs and discounts to spur mooncake sales for this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival. The festival, also known as the 'Children’s Festival,' takes place on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month. This year, it is due on Tuesday, September 17. 

-- Viettel High Technology Industries Corporation, a subsidiary of military-run telecom group Viettel, has signed a contract worth nearly US$2 million with the Philippines’ ContactPoint Inc. to provide a firearm training simulation system.

Lifestyle

-- Residents and tourists were wowed by the appearance of a fabric dragon with a length of 120 meters, which was registered to set a record as the longest of its kind in Vietnam, at the opening ceremony of the second durian festival in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak on Saturday.

-- The world-renowned culinary website Taste Atlas has revealed its list of the 69 best-rated dishes with peanuts globally to include four Vietnamese dishes: tiet canh (raw blood pudding), che lam (sticky rice ginger peanut bars), goi ca mai (Vietnamese raw fish salad), and pho chua (sour pho).

-- The Dalat Color Fun Festival 2024 kicked off at Lam Vien Square in Da Lat City, a resort city in Vietnam's Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, on Monday night, attracting over 10,000 revelers.
