The Can Tho Traffic Safety Board in Can Tho City, southern Vietnam is working with relevant agencies to carry out an investigation and to impose possible punishment on the driver of a Lexus convertible who allowed a woman to sit perched atop the door while in motion, an official said on Thursday afternoon.
At around 4:00 pm on Thursday, a white convertible drew the attention of locals as it slowly moved through the streets of Can Tho, southern Vietnam, with a woman in a short dress perched atop the car door, according to a report from the Vietnam News Agency.
Beside her, a man dressed in a mascot costume sat on the car’s rear headrest.
The vehicle, plastered with advertisements promoting a suitcase store launch, made its way through the city.
The spectacle continued as the car paused briefly in front of Luu Huu Phuoc Park on Hoa Binh Avenue before heading toward Ba Muoi Thang Tu Street in Ninh Kieu District.
During the journey, a woman seated atop a car door was spotted taking selfies and displaying a suitcase model, as the convertible made its way through the streets of Can Tho City.
Mai Minh Ngoan, chief of the Can Tho Traffic Safety Board, confirmed that the driver’s actions violated road traffic regulations and posed a risk to public safety.
The board plans to transfer the case to relevant authorities for further investigation and potential penalties.
Ngoan also stated that the board would coordinate with the city’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to review licensing procedures for street parades and advertising activities.
