A blaze engulfed a plant owned by Chang Chun Vina Company, located in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province, southern Vietnam on Sunday last week, causing a loss of some VND100 billion (US$4 million) and forcing thousands of its workers to have stayed home over the past two days.
Pham Van Triem, chairman and CEO of Tan Phuoc Thinh Construction and Investment JSC, the investor of the An Ngai industrial complex, where the factory is situated, stated that the inferno destroyed the facility, its rooftop solar system, and the stored goods, resulting in a loss of nearly VND100 billion.
Over 2,000 workers at the 8,000-square-meter factory, which specializes in manufacturing footwear, have been staying home in the wake of the fire, disrupting its production.
The fire broke out at the facility on Sunday night, and quickly gutted it due to inflammable items inside the plant.

The flames were extinguished after nearly three hours of effort by firefighters, with no casualties reported.
On Tuesday afternoon, local authorities collaborated with relevant units to find ways to support the workers temporarily jobless because of the fire.
The factory owner expressed hopes of resuming production as soon as possible to bring the employees back to work.
