A Taiwanese train passenger and a Vietnamese air traveler were fortunate to get back their valuable items lost during their trips thanks to the support from train and airport staff in Vietnam.

The Taiwanese passenger was able to retrieve her forgotten wallet containing nearly VND28 million (US$1,130) in cash from the train traveling from the northwestern mountainous province of Lao Cai to Hanoi.

On Thursday evening, Luong Ngoc Duc, the attendant in charge of carriage 13 on the SP4 train from Lao Cai to Hanoi, discovered a grey wallet that a passenger had left in the toilet.

At the time, the train was traveling through the section between Pho Lu-Cau Nho station on the Hanoi-Lao Cai railway line.

Duc promptly contacted the train captain, Pham Thanh Hoa, to report the incident.

The captain and the train security guard then examined the wallet, making a minutes and taking inventory of its contents.

The wallet included 25 foreign currency notes, 44 Vietnamese banknotes worth VND200,000 ($8.06) each, and a passport belonging to Chei Hui Mei from Taiwan.

The train captain and attendant Duc then went through each carriage to locate the owner, ultimately returning the wallet to female tourist Chei Hui Mei in front of the other passengers in the same carriage.

Later, thanks to the support of two security officers at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, a Vietnamese passenger returning home from South Korea managed to retrieve a forgotten backpack containing US$15,075 in cash.

At 11:45 pm on Thursday, while on duty at the T2 passenger terminal, security guard Nguyen Thanh Binh and mobile security guard Nguyen Thanh Tin discovered a black backpack on the first floor.

They conducted an explosives check and security screening before handing the backpack to the mobile security guard team.

Upon inspection, they found $15,075 in cash and several documents belonging to a passenger identified as D.V.S.

After leaving Noi Bai International Airport and realizing he had forgotten his backpack, D.V.S. returned to search for it.

Upon arrival, he was directed to the mobile security guard’s duty room for verification.

At 00:30 am on Friday, he happily signed to reclaim his belongings.

D.V.S. explained that he had assumed the backpack was left on his bus, as he was traveling with a group.

The money in the backpack had been saved from his work in South Korea.
