After typhoon Yinxing, the seventh to strike the East Vietnam Sea this year, weakens, two more typhoons -- Toraji and Man-yi -- will possbily arrive in quick succession, according to the national weather agency.
Nguyen Van Huong, head of the Weather Forecasting Department under the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, said on Sunday that these three typhoons are currently active in the northwestern Pacific.
Among these weather systems, typhoon Yinxing is currently moving through the East Vietnam Sea, while Toraji is developing east of the Philippines and Man-yi is farther out in the northwestern Pacific.
Huong noted that a tropical depression is forming between Toraji and Man-yi.
These three typhoons, along with the tropical depression, are situated along an intertropical convergence zone that crosses the northern part of the East Vietnam Sea.
Weather systems on this convergence zone often move along its axis, which could lead to a continuous influx of tropical storms and depressions in the East Vietnam Sea, he explained.
At 10:00 am on Monday, typhoon Yinxing was centered in the northwest of Vietnam's Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago and moving southwest at 15kph, packing maximum sustained winds of 74kph. This is a weaker speed compared to Sunday data when it packed winds of 118-133kph.
The agency has predicted that by Monday evening Yinxing could maintain the same speed and southwest direction toward the coast of central Vietnam, downgrading into a tropical depression in the waters from Quang Nam Province to Binh Dinh Province.
By Tuesday morning, it will potentially weaken into a low-pressure area in the coastal regions from Quang Ngai Province to Binh Dinh Province.

Yinxing's impact may bring strong winds, high waves of 2-5 meters, and rough seas to the waters around Hoang Sa.
From Monday afternoon, the coastal areas from Thua Thien-Hue Province to Binh Dinh may experience strengthening winds.
Meanwhile, typhoon Toraji has intensified and is expected to enter the East Vietnam Sea on Monday night, becoming the eighth storm to hit the maritime area in 2024.
At 7:00 am on Monday, Toraji was spotted east of Luzon Island in the Philippines and was traveling west-northwest at approximately 20kph, packing maximum sustained winds of 133kph.
Toraji will touch land in Luzon on Monday before entering the East Vietnam Sea that evening.
By 7:00 am on Tuesday, the storm is forecast to be in the north of the East Vietnam Sea.
Over the next two days, the forecast showed Toraji moving northwest at about 15kph with little change in intensity.
The agency stated Toraji will possibly shift west-northwest and likely weaken.
In related news, from Monday night through Tuesday night, the central provinces from Thua Thien- Hue to Binh Dinh could see moderate to heavy rainfall, with some areas receiving over 250mm.
The weather agency has highlighted a high risk of localized rain of over 100mm within a six-hour period.
The Central Highlands region will also experience significant precipitation, with totals reaching up to 90mm and some areas seeing over 180mm during Tuesday.
