Dozens of Cambodian police officers displayed their dog training skills after completing half of a six-month course provided by the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security's Mobile Police Command.

The demonstration took place on Monday at a training center in Hanoi's Soc Son District.

It featured 29 officers from the Cambodian Ministry of Home Affairs and 29 detection dogs.

This session marked three months since the Mobile Police Command initiated the training course on August 21, aiming to equip trainees with knowledge and skills for raising, training, and using dogs to combat crime.

After training, these police canines will be able to assist in various tasks, such as searching for drugs and explosives, detecting and preventing crimes, chasing and attacking suspects, and arresting and escorting criminals.

Major General Nguyen Thanh Banh, deputy commander of the Mobile Police Command, said that the course was specifically designed to meet the requests of Cambodian law enforcement officials.

In recent years, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security has assigned the training center to help the Cambodian Ministry of Home Affairs by providing 10 training courses for a total of 145 police officers and 140 dogs.

Lieut. Col. Kakada, 30, from the criminal department under the Cambodian Ministry of Home Affairs, extended his thanks to the Vietnamese side for organizing the training courses.

Another trainee, Lieutenant Sok Chia, a mobile police officer, expressed his pleasure to join the current course in Vietnam.

The officer expressed his happiness, stating that after graduation, he will be able to bring the dog he trained back to Cambodia.
