-- Starting Saturday night, a strong cold air mass will hit the north, bringing cold and rainy weather, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting. The south will remain sunny, while the central region will experience cloudy skies.

-- As the Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) holiday begins on Saturday, the streets at the gateways of Ho Chi Minh City grew increasingly crowded on Friday, with the holiday travel rush starting to take shape in the afternoon.

-- On Friday, Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City was crowded with delays while seven flights to Vinh and Tho Xuan Airports in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa Provinces were diverted to Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, and several other flights were affected by fog.

-- Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi announced on Friday that it was treating 32 students from Tuyen Quang City in the namesake northern province over suspected rat poison poisoning.

-- Police in Bac Ninh Province, northern Vietnam announced on Friday the dismantling of a cross-border fraud ring that used advanced technology to impersonate police and tax officials, defrauding over 13,000 people from May 2024 to the present. In Bac Ninh Province alone, 300 victims were targeted, with stolen funds exceeding VND31 billion (US$1.23 million).

-- Authorities in Dong Ha City, Quang Tri Province, north-central Vietnam on Friday praised local police for seizing 640 N2O gas cylinders, commonly known as laughing gas, from a truck parked at Dong Ha railway station.

-- The National Power System and Market Operator Company said it will work to ensure a safe and stable electricity supply during Tet, meeting the needs of production, business, and daily life, despite predicted consumption being only 50-60 percent of normal working days.

-- Nguyen Dinh Khoat, a member of the board of directors, was appointed general director of the Southern Rubber Industry Joint Stock Company (Casumina), which achieved revenue of over VND5 trillion ($199.36 million) in 2024, according to a decision signed by the chairman on Friday.

-- Thanh Thanh Cong - Bien Hoa JSC (TTC AgriS), Vietnam’s largest sugar company, announced at a recent extraordinary general meeting that it plans to issue five million convertible bonds, valued at nearly VND500 billion ($19.91 million), to expand its capital, invest in new projects, supplement working capital, and restructure debt.
