Dang Quang Tu, chairman of the People's Committee of Da Lat, a popular tourist city in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, has signed a directive to improve urban order and environmental hygiene in the central area.
The directive was issued following issues during the New Year 2025 and Lunar New Year holidays.
During these holidays, Da Lat saw a resurgence in street vendor activities in areas with high tourist traffic, such as Xuan Huong Lake and Lam Vien Square.
Street vendors used charcoal stoves for cooking, which caused significant damage to the grass around Xuan Huong Lake, a national heritage site.
Previously, numerous cases of public space occupation for business purposes and paid photo services with pets had been reported.
Tu emphasized the need to address these issues in the city center, beautifying and cleaning up the city to attract and retain tourists.

According to the official, the urban order management force in Da Lat is currently overloaded, and its effectiveness has not met expectations. Therefore, the participation of nearby forces is needed.
Tu asked relevant units and wards to unify management plans, assign tasks, and define areas of responsibility to ensure effective implementation of urban order improvement.
In August last year, the People's Committee of Lam Dong Province asked the Da Lat authorities to strengthen urban order in Lam Vien Square and other public areas in the city center.
Since then, the administration in Da Lat has acted to improve urban order, remove all street vendors, and stop paid photo services with pets in Lam Vien.
