Vingroup, Vietnam’s leading private conglomerate, held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday for its new urban project in Long An Province, southern Vietnam, with a price tag of over VND28 trillion (US$1 billion).

The Vinhomes Green City project covers an area of 197.2 hectares in Duc Hoa District.

With an estimated population of 40,000, the project is strategically located within the planned urban and industrial zone along the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 project and along a key economic corridor in Long An which links Long An Port with the southeastern region.

Nguyen Viet Quang, vice-chairman and CEO of Vingroup, stated that the project will feature a 9.6-hectare commercial complex, establishing a dynamic trading hub in the urban economic corridor located in the northwest of Ho Chi Minh City.

Quang expressed confidence that Vinhomes Green City, Vingroup's first mixed-use urban area in Long An, will not only set new living standards but also attract businesses, investors, experts, and high-quality labor.

Nguyen Van Ut, chairman of the Long An People's Committee, emphasized that the project will create a large-scale urban area with distinctive landmarks, enhancing the area's architectural and landscape appeal and boosting its competitiveness.

Ut also highlighted Long An's ongoing efforts to improve connectivity with the southeast region, including Ho Chi Minh City, through various infrastructure projects.

Furthermore, the Vinhomes-VIG consortium has also received approval to develop the Phuoc Vinh Tay new urban area project in the province's Can Giuoc District, with an area of over 1,000 hectares and an estimated investment of VND90.757 trillion ($3.5 billion).

Work on this project is scheduled to start in 2026.
