-- Vietnamese State President Luong Cuong, along with several leaders of the Party, state, and Phu Tho Province, paid tribute during the incense offering ceremony at the Hung Kings Temple in the province early on Monday morning, marking this year’s Hung Kings’ death anniversary.

Society

-- As of 5:30 pm on Sunday, Vietnam’s earthquake victim rescue team in Myanmar had recovered 28 bodies from the rubble and successfully rescued one person, concluding the operation on the same day.

-- Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has instructed Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to reduce air pollution levels to safe thresholds within the next five years.

-- According to the Department of Financial Informatics and Statistics at the Ministry of Finance, the average income of workers in the first quarter reached VND8.3 million (US$321) per month, an increase of VND720,000 ($28) compared to the same period last year.

-- Police in Quang Nam Province, central Vietnam reenacted on Sunday night the scene of a crime involving a 44-year-old woman from Thang Binh District who was accused of killing her son to claim insurance benefits.

-- Social media users praised a three-year-old boy in Nghe An Province, north-central Vietnam for calling on adults to rescue another child who had fallen into a deep hole, in a video that went viral on Sunday.

Business

-- At a regular press briefing for March, Minister-Chairman of Government Office Tran Van Son announced that the first-quarter economic growth reached 6.93 percent, the highest growth rate since 2020, surpassing the initial growth forecast. Ho Chi Minh City recorded a growth rate of 7.51 percent, while Hanoi saw an increase of 7.35 percent.

Sports

-- The Department of Culture and Sports of Kien Giang Province, the Vietnam Athletics Federation, and Vietnam Television organized the VTV Phu Quoc Marathon 2025 in the island city on Sunday, attracting around 5,000 athletes.

-- Athlete Nguyen Thi Minh Vuong has secured a spot in the women’s 57kg fighting category at the 2025 World Games, scheduled to take place from August 7 to 17 in Chengdu, China, marking the first time Vietnamese jujitsu has qualified for the event.
