Young people in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho have recently embraced archery as a way to exercise and relieve stress at the newly launched Can Tho Archery Station in Ninh Kieu District.

Opened on Sunday with support from the Can Tho City chapter of the Vietnam Youth Federation, the Can Tho Archery Station attracted over 200 young people from the city to register.

The facility, located at 3 Le Loi Street in Cai Khe Ward, Ninh Kieu District, covers 1,000 square meters and features 18 shooting targets.

It also offers direct connections with professional athletes and coaches, regularly hosting workshops to help players improve their skills.

Participants can experience archery competitions, exchange knowledge, and learn about different types of bows.

Nguyen Thuy Trang, a local resident, shared that her group of friends signed up for a shooting experience together and made a bet: the loser would buy milk tea for everyone after the session.

“Archery helps me exercise, relieve stress, and have fun with friends. It’s very rewarding!” Trang said with a smile.

Huynh Minh Duc, director of the Can Tho Archery Station, explained that the facility was established to meet the growing interest in archery, particularly among young people in the Mekong Delta, offering them a chance to learn, practice, and pursue semi-professional or professional archery.

The club currently has around 100 members, mostly students in Can Tho.

Archery helps build concentration, perseverance, and discipline, as players must adhere to the coach’s instructions during training.

“This sport provides players with a sense of accomplishment, especially when, after days of practice, they successfully hit the bullseye,” Duc said.
