Hanoi Police Football Club said on Wednesday that French player Jason Quang Vinh Pendant has officially been granted Vietnamese citizenship.

The French footballer has adopted the Vietnamese name Cao Pendant Quang Vinh, taking his mother’s Vietnamese surname.

Reflecting on the new citizenship, the player expressed his ambition to soon contribute to the Vietnamese national team and help advance Vietnamese football.

The 1.77m tall player was born to a French father and a Vietnamese mother in 1997.

His preferred position is full-back.

During the 2023-24 season, Cao Pendant Quang Vinh played in Ligue 2 for Quevilly Rouen, making 33 appearances, totaling 2,466 minutes, and registering two assists.

In the 2024-25 season, he joined Hanoi Police FC, managed by the Hanoi Department of Public Security and currently ranked sixth in V.League 1, Vietnam’s top football division.

He quickly established himself as a regular on the left wing, making 21 appearances.

With left-back Doan Van Hau sidelined by a persistent heel injury since September 2023, the national team have yet to find a reliable replacement for the position.
