Popular singer Jack and rap sensation Binz have become two Vietnamese representatives to compete at the MTV EMA 2020 and ATA 2020, IMC Group, which operates the MTV Vietnam channel, announced earlier this week.

According to the announcement, Jack was nominated for the Best Southeast Asia Act at the MTV EMA 2020, alongside singers from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand.

The award is now open for supporters’ votes until 5:59 pm on November 3 (Vietnam time).

At the same time, Jack’s music video ‘Hoa hai duong’ (Camellia) and rapper Binz’s MV ‘Bigcityboi’ featuring Touliver have become competitors for the Video Best Music Video at the Asian Television Awards (ATA) 2020.

Entries to the ATA 2020 will be judged by a minimum of six jurors, the award organizers said on their website.

Jack is a Vietnamese male singer, songwriter, and rapper.

He rose to stardom for his MV ‘Hong nhan’ (Beauty), which has garnered over 200 million views one year after its release.

He was awarded the prize for Best New Asian Artist Vietnam at the Mnet Asian Music Awards 2019.

Binz became a music sensation in Vietnam earlier this year, especially after the release of the MV ‘Bigcityboi’ and his participation as a coach in the hit Vietnamese TV show ‘Rap Viet.’

Jack and Binz are the only two Vietnamese representatives at the MTV EMA 2020 and the ATA 2020.

The MTV EMA is a yearly music award meant to honor artists and music in pop culture.

This year’s MTV EMA will be online, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on November 9, with its organizers promising “a night of jaw-dropping performances from the hottest artists while celebrating the power of music in 2020!”

Launched in 1996, Asian Television Awards is one of the Asian TV industry’s most significant and celebrated events, recognizing excellence in programming, production, and performance.

The ATA 2020, the 25th edition of the annual event, will take place on January 15-17 in Phnom Penh.
