Summer is heating up thanks to VinWonders, a world-class theme park in Nha Trang in Vietnam's south-central province of Khanh Hoa, so this summer’s visitors can take virtual journeys around the world and dance the night away at star-studded music festivals.

Travel the world without leaving Nha Trang

VinWonders Nha Trang – a Vingroup-owned theme park on Hon Tre Island in Khanh Hoa Province – unveiled several new attractions this year, making the park one of this summer’s hottest tourist draws.

To get to the park, visitors must take a speed boat from the mainland through Nha Trang Bay – a natural landmark consistently ranked among the most beautiful bays in the world.

This year, VinWonders will host the 8Wonder Music Festival in the park’s main square, known as the Wonder Square, flanked by colorful buildings designed to mimic classic European architecture.

The park also features a “360-degree flying theater” that takes guests on a virtual journey using a combination of 4D dome screens, high-end sound systems, and wind, mist, water, and fragrance effects.  Currently, 38 world-famous destinations are featured at the theater, such as Las Vegas and Holland.

“I was surprised at how thrilling the flying theater was. It felt like I was experiencing a real journey through five different continents.  I was really impressed and will surely come back,” said Pham Anh, a visitor from Da Nang who recently visited the park.

One of the most popular shows at the flying theater is “Fly Over Europe” a cinematic masterpiece which allows guests to journey alongside a rabbit named Harry as they explore the 12 wonders of the world in search of a missing magician.

Ngoc Mai, who travelled to VinWonders from Ho Chi Minh City, said that the flying theater helped her and her family to feel as if they had truly traded in the real world for a virtual journey.

“My family and I really enjoyed the Tata World River Adventure. It was an awesome boat ride and the first of its kind in Vietnam. The stories we heard on the ride were exciting, thrilling, traditional, and technological. It was the first time I had seen anything like it,” Mai said.

“We heard the fairy tale of Princess Tata and were entertained the whole time as we visited different wonderlands to watch her defeat wizards and monsters.  At one point, we were even splashed with water.  The story was thrilling and educational. It was definitely appropriate for both adults and children.”

The Tata World River Adventure is based on the Tata Show – a one-of-a-kind multimedia extravaganza show which features over 150 domestic and international artists.

Alongside the 360-degree Flying Theater, VinWonders features several other attractions. Of these, the most popular are Vietnam’s longest and steepest zip line which can carry riders at speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour; an 1,865-meter long alpine coaster, a 4,200-square-meter floating bay featuring water sports and games; and the Tropical Paradise Water Park with 39 rides and games.

Festivals galore

VinWonders also has star-studded lineup for the various music festivals taking place at the park this summer.

The 8Wonder Music Festival is slated to be the biggest show at the park this summer, with performances by international superstar Charlie Puth (known for chart topping hits such as “We Don’t Talk Anymore”) and local acts Ha Anh Tuan, Ho Ngoc Ha, HIEUTHUHAI, MONO, TLinh, Amee, and DJ Mie.

According to a VinGroup representative, the festival will focus on world-class sound and performance technology in order to put on some of the best musical shows the country has ever seen.

“With its 10,400-square-meter space and the 180-degree view overlooking Nha Trang Bay, the Wonder Square transforms into a unique “infinity stage” in harmony with its surroundings,” the representative said.

Of course, excitement for the festival has spread across the country, with visitors travelling from far and wide to catch the performances.

“Though [my friends and I] are very busy, we really want to go to the festival,” said Ho Chi Minh City resident Thanh Chau.

In addition to musical performances, from 3:00 pm on July 22, 8Wonder will begin featuring a glowing carnival, an exhibition of local specialties, a cosplay contest, a flash mob competition, an indie music show, ocean exploration trips, water sports, and a Hawaiian dance performance.  Music for the event will start promptly at 4:00 pm and last until 10:00 pm.

8Wonder Musical Festival will coincide with WonderFest 2023, an international sea festival that will span the summer and feature dozens of captivating activities, including the food-focused Wonder Fair and Wonder Z Fest – a six-week extravaganza which began on June 10 and will last until July 20 featuring a series of contests such as cheerleading, flash mobs, dancing, and indie music.

Other events coinciding with WonderFest 2023 include the Wonder You Fest cosplay contest, slated to wrap on Sunday and the Wonder Water World Event which will last until July 31 and feature dance and bartending performances.
