Police officers and soldiers in Da Nang City located in central Vietnam enhanced their efforts to evacuate flood-affected residents to safe shelters from Friday night until Saturday morning.

Torrential rain has been battering the central coastal city, inundating many parts, mainly low-lying areas.

Rescue workers in Lien Chieu District were dispatched to 161 Me Suot Street in Hoa Khanh Nam Ward at 3:30 am on Saturday to move people stranded due to flooding to safer places.

They evacuated 12 locals from the flooded area, including two elderly people, one woman, and nine children, with boats to a safer shelter.

The area was submerged under up to 2.2 meters of rainwater.

Colonel Nguyen Xuan Cuong from the Da Nang Police Agency said on Saturday morning that rescue teams were working to save people from such a severe flood triggered by relentless downpours.

Besides, police officers bought necessities, bread, food, and bottles of drinking water to supply them to several flood-hit households in Hoa Minh Ward in Lien Chieu District on the same day.

The deluge of rains starting to fall on Friday night disrupted traffic flows on multiple routes in Da Nang City on Saturday morning.

Numerous houses in Cam Le District were flooded by rainwater, while an amusement park was soaked by heavy rainfall.

Many areas such as Suoi Da (Rock Stream), and Linh Ung Pagoda recorded a rainfall of up to 130 millimeters on Saturday, while downpours raised the water of Vu Gia and Cam Le Rivers.

At around noon on Saturday, some sections of National Highway 1 in the city remained flooded.
