The second display of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2024 lit up the sky of the namesake Vietnamese city and repeatedly wowed the audience on Saturday with performances from U.S. and Italian pyrotechnic teams.

The competition, centered around 'Made of Nature Wisdom,' was interesting as Italy won the DIFF twice in 2017 and 2018, while the U.S. is joining the festival for the first time.

The two teams come from countries with over 100 years of history in the pyrotechnics sector.

The Italians began the night with a mesmerizing pyrotechnic gig.

Using Vietnam’s hit songs of ‘De Vuong’ (King) and ‘Cat Doi Noi Sau’ (Cut Sadness in Half), the team’s performance turned up the heat and excited Vietnamese spectators.

The Italian team used low-altitude fireworks to create special lightning effects on the surface of the Han River in the Vietnamese coastal city.

The performance started with a gentle melody and fireworks forming the shapes of blooming flowers, green grass, and shimmering white clouds.

The rhythm became stronger later and the display boomed with repeated lighting waves at the end of the performance.

Here is the pyrotechnic display by the Italian team:

Refusing to be inferior to the Italian team, the U.S. team brought a spectacular pyrotechnic display.

They featured the most advanced fireworks showing techniques against a violin, rock, EDM, and jazz music background.

The performance received big rounds of applause from spectators in Da Nang.

The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2024 takes place between June 8 and July 13 in the eponymous city.

This year's 12th DIFF edition features performances by seven international pyrotechnic teams from France, Italy, the U.S., Germany, Poland, China, Finland, and a team from Da Nang every Saturday night during the five-week period.

The defending 2023 DIFF champion France and the host Vietnam competed following the festival’s opening ceremony on June 8.

The third competition is scheduled to take place next Saturday with the participation of the German and Polish pyrotechnic teams.

Pyrotechnic teams from China and Finland will have their turn on June 29 and the final round is slated for July 13.

The first DIFF edition was held in 2008.

The French fireworks team claimed the championship of the 2023 DIFF.

Last year, the festival made significant contributions to the city’s post-pandemic tourism recovery.

During the first half of 2023, lodging facilities across Da Nang served more than 3.5 million visitor arrivals, marking a year-on-year growth rate of 116.6 percent.

The number of international visitors was 11.3-fold higher than the 2022 figure, reaching 930,000, while the volume of domestic guests soared nearly 68 percent versus the previous year.
