UK travel magazine Wanderlust named Vietnam one of the world’s top 20 travel destinations to visit this coming January.
Ranked eighth on the list, the Southeast Asian country was commended by the magazine for pleasant, dry, and sunny weather that differs only slightly between the north and south.
The major appeal of visiting Vietnam in January is that post-Christmas crowds typically do not arrive till a bit later in the year, giving visitors the chance to experience the country in relative peace.
The magazine gave travel suggestions to particularly types of travelers.

In particular, it suggested that cycling enthusiasts visit Hoi An City in Quang Nam Province, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hue City in Thua Thien-Hue Province.
On the other hand, travelers with a preference to explore are likely to enjoy Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh Province, the lesser-known Lan Ha Bay in northern Hai Phong City, and Son Doong Cave – the largest known cave in the world – in Quang Binh Province.
Sighting the rare golden-haired langur would also be an incredibly unique experience, but it would also be extremely difficult given that only 100 or so remain in Cat Ba National Park in Hai Phong.
Also included in Wanderlust’s top 20 travel destinations for January are Norway; Malé, the Maldives; Los Angeles, the U.S.; Slovenia; Barbados; Laos and the Mekong River; Nicaragua; Honduras and El Salvador; Hill Country in Sri Lanka; Panama; Antarctica; and Tambopata in Peru.
