In the sunlit yard of Che Cu Nha Commune in Mu Cang Chai, Yen Bai Province, northern Vietnam, three generations of Mong women in Ly Thi Ninh's family gather around a beeswax pan, intricately crafting patterns on neatly-stretched linen sheets.

For Mong women, beeswax drawing is a part of their life.

Before the craft was recognized as national intangible heritage in December 2023, Ninh was praised for her contributions to preserving the cultural feature of Mu Cang Chai.

In addition to improving the income of women in Che Cu Nha through the traditional craft, Ninh has successfully imparted the profession to her young daughter.

Ho Thi Khanh diligently learns a range of designs, progressing from simple patterns to more intricate drawings.
