Coal pit miners work underground at depths of 150 to 200m in low light environments, filled with hot, wet air full of coal dust, and surrounded by the loud noise of conveyors working all day and night.
Nowadays, mining technology has seen an improvement in conditions as pits are shored with hydraulic pillars or firm mobile scaffolds made of steel, facilitating an increase in worker productivity and safety.
