HCMC biggest agricultural exhibition kicks off

Hi-tech Agro 2013, the bigger agricultural exhibition of Ho Chi Minh City, was officially open on Wednesday evening at Le Van Tam Park in District 1.

The 5-day event, hosted by the HCMC Center for Trade Promotion and Investment (ITPC), is tailored to be the meeting point for high-tech agricultural enterprises and food processing industrialists of the Ho Chi Minh City, the Southeast region and 13 provinces/cities in the Mekong Delta.

It features 300 exhibition booths of nearly 200 companies and units from HCMC and 19 provinces/cities of the southern region of Vietnam.

The exhibition, the 2nd of its kind organized by ITPC under the supervision of HCMC People’s Committee, is an opportunity for agricultural and food processing firms of Ho Chi Minh City and the aforementioned provinces to gain the access and grasp the latest scientific and technological advancements and achievements in the field of high-tech agriculture and food industry, said the organizer.

In addition, it will help enhance the communications and the experience and information exchange between domestic and foreign enterprises to improve product quality and branding, sharpen the competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural products to attract more foreign investment in the local agriculture and food industry sectors.

Moreover, the event is also the home for four thematic workshops on agriculture and technical consultancy services which will bring in-depth contents and practical orientation and application of high-tech in agriculture to local enterprises.

The workshops, organized during day time, will focus on the impact of TPP in the agricultural sector, updated trends of food processing industry in the world and in Vietnam, and introducing many credit packages to support agricultural sector.

Throughout the event, there will be art show at nights, bonsai exhibition programs, ornamental fish exhibition and orchids and ornamental plant contests.
