A department under the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction has reviewed projects implemented by Chinese firms and arrived at a conclusion on what is dubbed a “six no’s” characteristic of the Chinese contractors, the department head revealed Thursday.
The Department for Construction Management has reviewed the effectiveness of state-funded construction projects carried out by Chinese contractors to come to the conclusion, Bui Trung Dung said.
The “six-no’s” characteristic includes no employment of experts; no employment of high-skilled workers; no utilization of modern and high technology; no ability to meet committed deadlines; no commitment to using modern equipment and machinery; and no employment of local workforce.
Dung revealed the “six-no’s” character in response to recent reports that China has allegedly banned its state-run enterprises from joining bids in Vietnam, at this time of high tension over a drilling rig Beijing has illegally placed in Vietnamese waters since May 1.
Dung asserted that there was no need to worry even if China really released such a ban. Instead, it would benefit Vietnam, he added.
“The quality of construction projects in Vietnam will be improved and we will not have to lose jobs and profits to China,” he emphasized.
