Vietjet to launch new routes to Thailand, South Korea

Wednesday, September 21, 2016, 19:06 GMT+7

Vietjet is set to start operating two more non-stop services from Vietnam to Thailand and South Korea later this year, the no-frills carrier announced on Monday.

The new routes will connect the northern Vietnamese city of Hai Phong directly to Seoul and Bangkok from the city’s Cat Bi International Airport, Vietjet chairwoman Nguyen Thanh Ha said at a conference to boost Hai Phong investment.

“We [Vietjet] do believe that the new international routes will not only facilitate Hai Phong people and tourists in their travel plans to international destinations on safe, modern air services, but also help boost trade and economic exchange among Hai Phong and its partners, as well local’s foreign investment,” Ha said.

The Hai Phong – Seoul service will commence on December 12, flying every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday with a flight time of around five hours.

Flights depart from Hai Phong at 11:45 pm and arrive in Seoul at 6:00 am.

Return flights from Seoul take off at 7:15 am and land in Hai Phong City at 10:40 am.

The Hai Phong – Bangkok route is set for launch on November 9, flying every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with a flight time of around one hour and fifty minutes.

Flights depart from Hai Phong at 6:05 pm and arrive in Bangkok at 7:55 pm. Return trips from Bangkok take off at 3:20 pm and touch down at Cat Bi airport at 5:10 pm.

The new routes bring the total number of routes operated by Vietjet from Cat Bi airport to nine, where the airline has served nearly two million passengers on more than 10,000 domestic and international flights so far.
