Vietnam’s OTT (over-the-top) app VieON was honored with the Asian Technology Excellence Award for the second time in a row this year.

VieON received the Vietnam Technology Excellence Award for Digital Services in the Media and Entertainment category at the Asian Technology Excellence Awards 2022, hosted by the Asian Business Review to honor outstanding companies in digital transformation in 60 countries across the region.

Launched on June 15, 2020 and powered by DatVietVAC Group Holdings, VieON offers subscribers a wide selection of TV series, movies, documentaries, live sports events, cartoons, game shows, and nearly 200 domestic and foreign TV channels.

VieON contributes to creating the habit of watching online TV via applications on smart devices such as smartphones, tablets, smart televisions, and laptops.

VieON currently owns a lot of premium and copyrighted content in Vietnam with more than 30 million subscribers.

Since its launch, the application has established strong partnerships with prestigious technology brands such as Samsung and popular consumer payment gateways.

In order to deliver an outstanding user experience, VieON invests heavily in content acquisition, content production, and product and tech development.

The tech and product team continues to learn and develop new and improved features for the app including the content recommendation engine which is powered by big data and artificial intelligence (AI).

In 2022, the app has introduced several new functions and features such as facial recognition (FaceID) and TVOD (transactional video on demand), as well as plans to expand to at least one international market.

VieON’s achievements are thanks to its focus on technological excellence and serious investments in a curated library of content.

VieON not only invests in high-quality and modern content but it also produces various original content, a.k.a. VieON Originals, including TV shows such as Nguoi Ay La Ai? 2022, 2 Days 1 Night, The Masked Singer Vietnam, and Cay Tao No Hoa as well as drama series Giac Mo Cua Me.

The OTT app also acquired major international titles such as Eve, The Law Café, Street Dance of China 5, If You Wish Upon Me, Poong - the Joseon Psychiatrist.

For sports enthusiasts, VieON introduced two new subscription packages, namely Sport and Family, with the addition of 23 new channels from VTVCab, which allows subscribers to access a variety of sports shows from football leagues to tennis, golf, F1, martial arts, and wrestling.
