Hanoi welcomed 7.3 million visitors and earned an estimated VND29.93 trillion (US$1.17 billion) in revenue in January-March, according to a Hanoi Department of Tourism report released on Tuesday.

The first quarter figures showed that Hanoi attracted approximately 1.85 million international tourists, marking a 17.4-percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

March alone was the most profitable month of the first quarter, with 2.61 million visitors generating nearly VND11 trillion ($430 million) in revenue. Of that, 709,000 were international travelers.

The Vietnamese capital city currently hosts more than 3,760 accommodation establishments, offering over 71,000 rooms across various categories. 

The average occupancy rate reached 61.6 percent in the first quarter.

Hanoi's tourism boom was supported by a range of cultural and entertainment events, especially the Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) holiday, aimed at attracting both domestic and foreign visitors.

In the coming months, new tourism products will be launched especially in suburban Hanoi to woo more tourists, including heritage and historical site experiences in Dan Phuong District; a Southern Thang Long-Hanoi heritage road tour through Thanh Tri, Thuong Tin, and Phu Xuyen Districts; and agro-rural tourism models in Phuc Tho District.

Annual events such as the 2025 Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival and the 2025 Hanoi Tourism Festival are also anticipated to provide visitors with memorable experiences.
