About 30 travel companies from seven Chinese provinces on Monday came to Phu Quoc, an island city off the coast of Kien Giang Province in southern Vietnam, to survey tourism products, planning to bring visitors to the city during the upcoming Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers' Day (May 1) holiday.

The group explored several popular tourist destinations in Phu Quoc, including the Hon Thom Cable Car, the Kiss Bridge, a marvelous sculpture with two branches, a marine tour with snorkeling experiences in An Thoi Ward, the safari park, the VinWonders Phu Quoc theme park, and the Echuri Vung Bau golf course.

Yan Lei, a representative from a Chinese travel company, shared that he had visited Phu Quoc three times.

He was impressed by the island’s rapidly improving infrastructure, especially the transportation connections to popular tourist attractions.

Phu Quoc is a charming island with fresh air, and a rich diversity of historical and cultural features, he said.

"We hope that Phu Quoc will continue to develop and offer more unique and high-quality tourism products to satisfy international visitors," he said.

“We plan to bring many Chinese tourists to Phu Quoc for relaxation during the upcoming holiday."

These Chinese tour operators expected local travel firms to enhance the tourism experience by developing more tailored tour products and itineraries, and improving the quality of cuisine to suit Chinese tastes.

Ha Tuan Minh, director of Vietnam Winner International Travel Company based in Phu Quoc, said that there are around 20 international flights bringing tourists to Phu Quoc each day.

“The number of Chinese travelers to Phu Quoc City is expected to surge during the upcoming holiday, as many additional charter flights are being scheduled to bring visitors from China to the island,” he said.

According to the Kien Giang Department of Tourism, the province welcomed some 130,000 Chinese visitors in 2024.

Local authorities are ramping up efforts to promote Phu Quoc, urging travel companies to continually improve the quality of services, accommodations, and develop more exclusive tourism products to attract international visitors.
