Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended a Vietnam - World Economic Forum (WEF) national strategic dialogue organized in China on Monday, with the participation of 50 leaders of global groups which are members of the WEF, as part of his ongoing visit to China.
The Vietnamese government leader arrived in Beijing on Sunday to begin his first China visit of his tenure.
After arriving in Tianjin, a coastal metropolis in northern China, to sit in on the 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the WEF, the Vietnamese government chief entered into the dialogue titled 'Boosting New Growth Drivers to Build the Future for The country.'
The dialogue also featured WEF founder and executive chairman Klaus Schwab, as well as WEF president Borge Brende.
This was the only country dialogue to be organized by the WEF within this year’s meeting in Tianjin.
Addressing the dialogue, PM Chinh said that Vietnam has a highly open economy and is significantly affected by the global economy.
Despite global economic uncertainties, Vietnam has effectively responded to outside challenges.
The Southeast Asian nation is focusing on perfecting its mechanisms, developing a high-quality workforce, and investing in modern and synchronous infrastructure, said the prime minister.
After pinpointing Vietnam’s advantages, PM Chinh proposed the WEF and its members keep supporting the country, and deepen cooperation in financial and technological development and high-quality manpower training.
Vietnam is one of the spotlights for economic recovery in the region, and acts as a pioneer in growth model shift and commitments to energy transition, according to the leaders of the WEF.
Many participating firms appreciated the Vietnamese government's support for the business community.
They underscored that Vietnam is one of the most suitable destinations for long-term investment and cooperation.
At the dialogue, many groups showed their interest in some of Vietnam’s potential fields such as traffic infrastructure, logistics, power development, and digitalization, affirming that they will enter the nation to sound out cooperation opportunities.
