Several American associations are rushing to implement a series of promotional activities in the Vietnamese market in a bid to export more U.S. agricultural products and food to Vietnam, heard a ceremony to launch a program to promote American food in the Southeast Asian country on Thursday.
Among them are the Potato Association of America, the U.S. Meat Export Federation, the U.S. Soybean Export Council, and the California Wine Association.
The program is aimed at boosting the partnership between Vietnam and the United States, and making it easier for Vietnamese importers and consumers to access American products, U.S. Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Susan Burns said at the event.
Burns also shared expectations for various aquaculture products such as cold fish, salmon, and lobster to enter the Vietnamese market.
Vietnam has become one of America’s key food and farm produce buyers, she added.
The United States shipped nearly US$4 billion worth of food and agricultural products, mainly fruits, meat, and vegetables, to Vietnam in 2022.
Food and farm produce imports and exports play a key role in the Vietnam-U.S. partnership, Burns underlined.
In July, some U.S. restaurants and local supermarkets will offer a slew of promotional programs and discounts on food and agricultural products from America.
Many delegations of American enterprises have recently entered Vietnam to sound out their cooperation opportunities and beef up food consumption.
