Hue City, the capital of Thua Thien-Hue Province in central Vietnam, is adding a stunning feature to an iconic site with a wooden stage built for art performances on the tranquil waters of the Huong (Perfume) River.
An official from the city's Thuan Hoa District said on Tuesday that the district was stepping up efforts to construct the stage on the iconic river.
The project is part of a broader initiative to enhance Hue’s public spaces along the Perfume River, with a total capital of some VND30 billion (US$1.2 million).
The floating wooden stage, whose shape is inspired by the Order of Merit of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802–1945), will connect with an existing semi-circular wooden stage on the riverbank, creating a unique performance space set against the backdrop of the river’s serene waters.

The contractor of the project, Thua Thien-Hue Hydraulic Construction JSC, said that the stage would be anchored to the riverbed using piles to ensure stability.
The stage will be assembled quickly for performances, offering flexibility for future events.
The project is slated for completion by March 26 to serve major events, including the National Tourism Year 2025 and the 2025 Miss Vietnam pageant.
