Over 300 exhibitors from 20 countries and territories are showcasing a wide range of advanced metalworking tools and machines at the 16th edition of Vietnam's International Exhibition on Machine Tools and Metalworking Technologies for Production Upgrade (Metalex Vietnam 2023), which opened in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday.
The foreign exhibitors representing Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and several other nations are sounding out investment and cooperation opportunities in Vietnam.
Among the leading brands joining the expo, which is set to wrap up on Friday, are Accretech, Yamaha, and Showadenki.
Vu Trong Tai, general director at RX Tradex Vietnam, the organizer of the event, said that Vietnam is currently seen as an attractive destination amid a production shift to Southeast Asia.
Multiple tech giants such as Foxconn, Lego, Samsung, and LG have signed deals to implement their manufacturing and expansion projects in the country, Tai said.
He underlined that Vietnamese manufacturers should upgrade technologies and equip their facilities with state-of-the-art machines and tools to ramp up their production capacities, as well as upskill their workers to increase their competitiveness.
Metalex Vietnam is also meant to update local firrms on the latest technologies in metalworking and manufacturing, as well as bring advanced metalworking machines and solutions closer to domestic producers.
