Taiwan-based Foxlink International Investment Ltd will build an electronics manufacturing plant worth US$135 million in investment at the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park in Da Nang City, central Vietnam, confirmed a local official on Thursday.
The Foxlink Da Nang plant will manufacture touch pens, wireless earphones, batteries, charging stations, and printed circuit boards, according to Vu Quang Hung, head of the Da Nang hi-tech park and industrial zone authority, which described the plant as one of the major hi-tech projects in the city.
The facility, which covers 11.35 hectares of land at the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park, is expected to offer employment to nearly 2,000 people in this coastal city and neighboring provinces.
The city had earlier attracted U.S. firms to develop a $110-million semiconductor manufacturing plant and a $170-million aerospace component manufacturing factory there.
Da Nang is set to focus on developing the hi-tech industrial, industrial electronics, microchips sectors which are expected to drive the city’s growth.
Hung told Tuoi Tre (Youth) that the Da Nang hi-tech park and industrial zone authority has attracted investors to develop 28 projects in the city, including 16 domestically-funded projects worth a combined VND7.024 trillion ($287.5 million) and 12 FDI projects with a total pledged capital of $702 million.
He added that the city prioritizes investors who plan to execute major hi-tech projects worth over $100 million each at the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park.
