Viettel High Technology Industries Corporation, a subsidiary of military-run telecom group Viettel, has signed a contract worth nearly US$2 million with Philippine company ContactPoint Inc. to provide a firearm training simulation system.

This is the Vietnamese firm’s second contract in this market in 2024.

The first deal was signed in March to deploy customized shooting simulation systems for the Philippine National Police.

ContactPoint Inc. specializes in providing solutions and equipment for government agencies and private clients such as the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, the Philippine Air Force, and the Philippines’ Bureau of Customs.

The Vietnamese company's firearm training simulation system was upgraded with over 90 percent of new features as required by the client.

Updates include the firm developing a recoil stimulation to support specific guns like the Glock and Taurus and the M16 rifle, and a new shooting training software module helping improve the quality of training and fighting preparation.

Cesar Jr. Manuel, CEO at ContactPoint, Inc., said that his firm had searched for several suppliers in the world, but none of them could meet their requirements for customization.

He also noted that “the prices offered by the Vietnamese firm are competitive compared to other providers.”

Radel Ramos, training director at the Philippine National Police, said that Viettel not only offers advanced technology solutions but also helps the Philippine police force improve training capability.

"The success of the firearm training simulation system showcases the technological capabilities of Viettel and, by extension, Vietnam," said Nguyen Vu Ha, CEO of Viettel High Tech.

"We are committed to delivering the most advanced and highest quality products in the Philippines and the international market.

"Our goal is to enhance training quality while reducing costs."
