Direct air services linking Da Nang, the capital city of central Vietnam, with India and China will be resumed in October and 2025, respectively.
The municipal Department of Tourism said on Tuesday that the city would restart an air link to Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
Ahmedabad, the largest city in the state of Gujarat, is home to the headquarters of many major Indian firms that are investing in Vietnam.
Besides, a series of direct air services will be relaunched or opened to connect Da Nang with China’s Chengdu, Hangzhou, and Guangzhou next year.
The reopening of these direct air routes will bring the sheer number of tourists from the world’s two most populous nations to Vietnam.
In 2025, Da Nang will also resume multiple direct air services to India’s New Delhi and Mumbai, Japan’s Nagoya and Osaka, and Qatar’s Doha.
Furthermore, the coastal city aims to open new air routes to Australia and Indonesia.

Da Nang is expected to serve some 10.3 million tourists in 2024, including 4.2 million international travelers, well above the peak at 8.7 million visitors recorded in 2019, according to the municipal department.
The city has seen a surge in international tourist arrivals from India, Australia, Russia, and Taiwan, as a result of its efforts to diversify tourism source markets.
South Korea remains Da Nang’s largest source market, representing over 41 percent of the city’s international tourist arrivals, followed by Taiwan, Thailand, China, India, and Japan.
The city currently has five domestic air routes and 15 international air links with a daily frequency of 115 flights.
Cao Tri Dung, chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that with the planned reopening of direct air routes to the world’s most populous nation, Da Nang is expected to enjoy a boom in Indian tourist arrivals in the coming time.
The central Vietnamese city has been readying infrastructure and eateries to serve large numbers of Indians and international travelers, Dung said.
